People in uniform covered by Employees’ Compensation program

/ 03:41 PM August 29, 2013

THE Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) is informing the public that the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) are covered by Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP) despite their exclusion from the coverage of Republic Act No. 8291, otherwise known as “The Government Service Insurance Act of 1977.”

Thus, in the event of work-related sickness, injury or death, the members of the AFP and uniformed members of the PNP, BFP and BJMP or their beneficiaries may avail of their EC benefits at any GSIS branch.

The benefits available under the EC KaGaBay program are loss of income benefit (or sickness benefit), medical benefit, carer’s allowance, and rehabilitation services such as physical restoration, skills training for re-employment and entrepreneurship training.

For further inquiries, call the ECC at 8994251 to 52 local 227 or 228.
