4.5 magnitude quake shakes Antique—Phivolcs

MANILA, Philippines – A 4.5 magnitude earthquake rocked parts of Visayas Thursday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

In its report, Phivolcs said that the tectonic quake which had a shallow depth of 16 kilometers, hit 15 kilometers southeast of San Jose de Buenavista, Antique at 10:17 a.m. Thursday.

Intensity 4 was felt in Valderrama, Antique while intensity 3 was recorded in San Jose de Buenavista, Hamtic, Barbaza, Sebaste, Sibalom, Pandan, Culasi and Libertad, all in Antique and also in Iloilo City.

Meanwhile, intensity 2 was felt in Dinguan, Lucena, Oton, Leo in Iloilo and in Lezo, New Washington and Malay, Aklan.

No damages were reported and no aftershocks were expected from the tremor, Phivolcs said.
