Calamity-hit Pasay opens hotline vs overpricing

/ 09:28 PM August 24, 2013

Pasay City Mayor Antonino Calixto on Saturday warned local businessmen who might take advantage of the recent calamity to raise the prices of basic goods needed especially by flood victims, like rice, milk and sardines, among others.

The mayor said his office had been receiving reports of overpricing since early last week.

The city’s public information officer Jonathan Malaya said Calixto issued the warning following radio reports of overpricing, particularly for fish and other seafood, at Libertad public market.

City administrator Dennis Acorda said the public may call 5517777 for complaints against such merchants. Jaymee T. Gamil
