Ex-seaman seeks help after kidney transplant
Eduardo Tejam recently underwent a kidney transplant, with his wife’s young nephew as the organ donor.
But the 70-year-old former seaman remained in need of financial assistance for his daily medication.
“We spend P36,000 a month for his medicines alone. According to the doctors, that’s the problem with having a donor who is not related to you by blood. You have to take extra medicines,” said his wife Juanita, 66, a retired pawnshop employee.
Among the more expensive drugs Eduardito needs are Cellcept (500 mg) which he takes four times a day and costs him P16,000 a month, and Prograf capsule which he takes once a day at P13,000 a month, among others.
“We will forever be grateful to those who can help us,” said the Novaliches, Quezon City, resident.
