MANILA, Philippines–La Mesa dam has remained on red alert as water swelled close to its spilling level Tuesday morning, an official said.

Water level was at 79.80 meters as of 6a.m., or just .35 centimeters shy from its spilling level of 80.15 meters, said Esperanza Cayanan, officer in charge of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

In a press briefing, Cayanan said  that three dams also continued to open their gates: Binga, Ambuklao and Magat, but added that the waters released from these dams will go to San Roque dam, which was still far from its spilling level.

Ipo dam already closed its gate, Cayanan said.
