PNP to coordinate with NDRRMC in assisting `Maring’ victims
MANILA, Philippines—Interior Secretary Mar Roxas II directed the Philippine National Police on Monday to coordinate with local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council offices in assisting residents affected by the onslaught of Typhoon ”Maring”.
Roxas, who is also vice chair of the National Risk Reduction and Management Council, also instructed the PNP to declare full disaster response status in areas where police assistance are required.
“Inaasahan ko na handa ang ating Pambansang Pulisya sa pagdating ng bagyong Maring para magligtas ng buhay ng ating mga kababayan (I’m hoping that the national police are ready to aid victims of tropical storm Maring),” Roxas said, adding that all Disaster Incident Management Task Groups in areas that are seriously affected by the typhoon should be activated.
Roxas noted that PNP has prepared a checklist for response operations during typhoon, flooding and tsunami incidents.
