Demecillo, Escaner headline Astig Pinoy 1 in Dipolog

MARCO Demecillo (18-1-1, 14 KOs) of the RWS Gym is set to defend his Philippine superflyweight title this Saturday, Aug. 17 in Dipolog City against undefeated challenger Giovanni Escaner (10-0, 6 KOs) of Parañaque City.

The 22-year-old Demecillo, who fights under the name Marco Singwangcha, weighed 115 lbs while Escaner stepped on the scales at 114 lbs. during yesterday’s official weigh-in.

RWS gym matchmaker Willy Flores relayed the weight results to CDN.

The Demecillo vs. Escaner will serve as the main event of the ‘Bakbakan sa Dipolog: Astig Pinoy I at the Dipolog Sports Complex.

The fight will be Marco’s first since he suffered his first career loss by unanimous decision to OPBF superflyweight champion Arthur Villanueva last April in Davao City.

The 23-year-old Escaner on the other hand, has scored abbreviated wins in four of his last five bouts.
