FEATURED STORIES

Globalport and defending champion Rain or Shine took off to good starts after scoring separate wins in the opening day. Four more teams try to do the same as the newly-opened 38th PBA Governors’ Cup resumes today at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters tangle with the Barako Bull Energy Colas in the first game, while the Meralco Bolts face off with the Petron Blaze Boosters in the main game.

The double-header features two returning imports and a couple of newcomers.

Petron will parade Elijah Millsap, younger brother of of NBA player Paul Millsap, while Barako Bull will have Michael Singletary.

Singletary suited up for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the NBA D-League, where he averaged 10.1 points and 4.9 rebounds.

Millsap also had stints in the NBA D-League, where he played for the D-Fenders, norming 17.2 points and 5.9 rebounds in 44 games.

Talk ‘N Text is bringing back Tony Mitchell, who played for the Texters in the late stages in the previous conference.

Mitchell proved to be a heavy scorer in his brief stint but fell short of leading the Texters to the title as they just settled for a fourth place finish in the tournament ruled by the Alaska Aces.

The Bolts are parading returning import Mario West.

Meralco brought West in after its first choice DJ Kennedy failed to make the 6-foot-5 height limit.

West played for 11 games for the Bolts in last season’s Governors’ Cup, where the team made it to the semifinal round.
