MANILA, Philippines—Today, May 4, is the 94th birth anniversary of the late National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin. Joaquin wrote more than two dozen books, including “A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino,” “The Woman Who Had Two Navels” and several other plays and poems. He was conferred the title of National Artist for Literature in 1976.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
