MANILA, Philippines—Rains are expected to continue in Luzon due to southwest monsoon even as typhoon Labuyo (international name: Utor) exited the Philippine area of responsibility early Tuesday, the state weather bureau said.
All storm signals in the country were lifted late Monday night.
Labuyo was the strongest typhoon to batter the country this year, and has so far left three dead and 54 missing.
“The regions of Ilocos and Cordillera and the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon will be cloudy with moderate to occasionally heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms, which may trigger flashfloods and landslides,” the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa) 5 a.m. weather bulletin said.
The rest of the country, meanwhile, will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms, it added.
“Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest with slight to moderate seas,” Pagasa also said.
