Did you know: PAO investigations of torture cases

In 2012, the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) conducted a total of 295 investigations of cases involving torture. Section 11 of Republic Act No. 9745, or the Anti-Torture Law, mandates the Quezon City-based PAO, together with the Commission on Human Rights, to assist in the investigation of torture and other cases of inhuman treatment of persons.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
