MAN HACKED DEAD IN INAYAWAN

A 47-YEAR-OLD man was found dead with hack wounds in the head inside his house in barangay Inayawan, Cebu City.

The fatality was identified as Trifon Balogtod Bacalso.

Police are looking for Joselito Abatayo as a possible suspect in the killing.

Police said a jeepney driver saw Abatayo and Bacalso arguing around 9 p.m. Saturday.

The witness said the two men were both armed with bolos during the argument.

The witness said he later saw Abatayo emerge from the victim’s house and told him that he was heading to the barangay hall.

Police said victim’s sister, Edita, found the body when she went to her brother’s house to bring him food.

Two bolos with blood stains were found in the house, police said.

MAN FALLS IN DRUG BUST

POLICE arrested a 37-year-old man for allegedly selling illegal drugs in barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City.

Rodel Dalugdug Silverio, 37, allegedly sold two small packs of suspected shabu worth P500 to a poseur-buyer when he was arrested Friday night.

Operatives of Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB) of the Cebu City Police Office seized 40 packs of suspected shabu worth at least P50,000 from the man.

Silverio denied that a buy-bust occurred.

In an interview, Silverio said he was surprised when police picked him up and brought him to the IDMB office.

The man said the packs of seized drugs were owned by a neighbor.

Silverio admitted that he was previously involved in selling drugs but has stopped dealing shabu three weeks ago after he was diagnosed with a heart condition.

Police said Silverio will be charged with selling and possessing illegal drugs.   /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON

WOMAN TRIES TO BURN HOUSE

A 34-YEAR-OLD woman was arrested after she allegedly tried to burn their house in barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City.

Lizel Dayanan was drunk during the incident.

The woman was detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office headquarters pending the filing of attempted arson charges against her, police said.

Police said Dayanan and her live-in partner Eduardo Mangubat, 56, argued past 2 a.m. yesterday.

After the fight, Mangubat went to the room where their children sleeping.

Mangubat said he was surprised to see the door on fire.

He and some neighbors put out the fire with buckets of water. Mangubat then called the police that led to the woman’s arrest.

Dayanan was taken to a hospital where she tested positive for alcohol use.
