A group of employees of Air Materiel Wing Savings and Loan Association Inc. (AMWSLAI) on Saturday appealed to investigators to spare AMWSLAI from the scandal surrounding pork barrel projects attributed to Janet Lim-Napoles and her firm.
In a statement, the employees, who pleaded not to be identified for fear of being dragged into the scandal, said AMWSLAI’s operations were all above board and were not involved in irregularities surrounding ghost pork barrel projects.
“We’re really just working quietly and our depositors are always presumed to be investing in AMWSLAI without irregularity,” one of the employees said.
In a previous statement, AMWSLAI head Ricardo Nolasco Jr. said AMWSLAI was ready to cooperate fully with the investigation into the scandal involving Napoles.
Nolasco, however, said like any regular banking institution, AMWSLAI was governed by the laws on banking that requires an order from a court or a permission in writing from depositors for any account to be opened for scrutiny.
It was reported earlier that Napoles, said to be the brains behind a P10-billion pork barrel scam, had plunked in more than P500 million into AMWSLAI.
Nolasco, in the statement, said all accounts in AMWSLAI “are duly reported.”
