2 NPA rebels arrested in Quezon

MANILA, Philippines—Two communist rebels facing attempted murder charges were separately arrested in Quezon province this week, the military said in a report.

Juanito dela Peña, known as Jacko, a member of the New People’s Army in San Francisco, Quezon was arrested on Monday. He is facing attempted murder case issued by a local court in Gumaca, Quezon, a report from the Armed Forces Southern Luzon Command said Friday.

A day after his arrest, police and military arrested Joel Peros, known as Reyman, a member of the NPA in San Andres. He is facing attempted murder charges at a local court in Gumaca.

Peros was said to be involved in the ambush of San Andres police officers in Talisay village, in San Andres in 2010.

Both were arrested in Bondoc Peninsula, SOLCOM said.
