Bystanders chase Quezon City robber

MANILA, Philippines—A man who robbed a dentist in Quezon City of P40,000 in cash and valuables wound up in jail Thursday evening after alert  bystanders and pedestrians, responding to the victim’s shout for help, chased the culprit and turned him over the authorities.

Police Officer 1 Anthony Empleo said Marlon Banlaolay, 24, of Maligaya St., Barangay Bagbag, Novaliches, was cornered by an angry mob after he robbed dentist Gene Loulette Viloria, 37, at her clinic  on Quirino Highway, Barangay Talipapa.

Policemen recovered from the suspect stolen items, including a wallet with P16,000 in cash, an iPhone valued at P28,000, and a myphone worth P2,500.

The dentist said she was attending to a patient on Thursday evening when the robber  entered the clinic, pretending to be a patient as well.

The dentist was shocked when Banlaolay pulled out a knife and demanded that she give him her valuables.

After the robbery, Banlaolay  ran out of the clinic but Viloria’s shouts got the attention of bystanders in the area. They chased the suspect, eventually cornering him and turning him over to responding policemen.
