The laundry woman of the town mayor in Tudela, Camotes Island, Cebu was electrocuted while hanging clothes last Wednesday afternoon.

The 15-year-old son of Tudela Mayor Erwin Polancos Yu was also wounded after he tried to rescue the laundry woman.

Salome del Corro, 42, was declared dead when she and the boy were taken to the Ricardo Maningo Memorial Hospital in San Francisco town.

The boy, who sustained burn injuries, was transferred to a hospital in Cebu City. He is already in a stable condition, according to the mayor.

Police said the victim had been working for the mayor for three years. She would go to the mayor’s house to do the laundry.

Police said Del Corro did the laundry at the back of the mayor’s house.

PO2 Fil Florentino of the Tudela Police Station said the wire used as a clothesline came into contact with a live wire causing the accident.

Police said the woman was hanging clothes when she was electrocuted. The victim shouted for help.

The boy rushed to the back of the house after hearing the call for help.

But before he could go near Del Corro, the boy was jolted when he stepped on wet grounds.
