4 robbery suspects nabbed

FOUR men tagged as suspects in the shooting of two Koreans in a roadside robbery were arrested during a saturation drive in barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.

Arrested were Juan Ramirez, 25; Anthony Miyahira, 25; Arturo Mori, 30; and Genis Ermitaño, 18. The four suspects are residents of barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, chief of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said witnesses implicated the four men in the shooting and wounding of Choi Soon Shul, 22, and Heo Yekang, 27.

The two Koreans were shot when they fought with the four men, who robbed their female Korean friend last July 23.

High-end cellular phones and cash worth P50,000 were taken during the robbery.

Choi was shot in the face while Heo was injured in the right arm.

Santander said they conducted the saturation drive Wednesday afternoon after they received reports that there were armed in the area.

In an interview at the police station, Miyahira admitted that they were the same persons who attacked the Koreans. He however exonerated Mori.

“Wa man gud miy trabaho (We don’t have decent jobs),”he said.

Chief Insp. Aileen Recla, chief of CCPO’s Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB), said they believed that the four men were also involved in other robberies in the area./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
