MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area moved closer to Aurora on Thursday, threatening residents in this province and nearby areas with flashfloods and landslides.
The LPA was last observed 245 kilometers east of Casiguran, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
“Central Luzon and the provinces of Quezon, Pangasinan, La Union, Cagayan, Isabela and Batanes group of islands will experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides,” Pagasa said.
The southwest monsoon, meanwhile, was affecting the western section of Luzon.
“Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Western Visayas and Caraga region will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms,” it added.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest to south will prevail over the entire archipelago and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough, it also said.
