Man stabs wife dead

A 31-year marriage came to a tragic end after a taxi driver stabbed dead his wife following an argument inside their house in barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City yesterday morning.

Luciano Traya, 48, tried to escape after the killing but the taxi he drove was intercepted by police in barangay Pardo.

Luciano’s wife, Lalaine, 44, who sustained multiple stab wounds in the body, was declared dead at the Cebu City Medical Center.

Police said jealousy could be the motive for the killing as the husband accused his wife of having an affair with another man.

Prior to the killing, the husband had a drinking session with friends near his house.

Police said the couple’s eldest son arrived and asked his father to go home.

Luciano refused to go home and was heard telling his son “Unya duna gyuy mahitabo sa imong inahan (Something will happen to your mother.)”

PO3 Edario Manatad said the couple argued when the husband arrived home.

During the argument, the husband took a knife and stabbed his wife repeatedly.

The husband fled on board his taxi. An alarm was issued to police units that led to the apprehension of Luciano.
