SCHOLARS of Young Minds Academy (YMA) Season 7 will hold a Young Citizens Forum 2013 on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Eduardo Aboitiz Development Studies Center (EADSC).
The activity seeks to encourage the youth to participate in community development for a better Cebu. The forum also serves as a venue for the YMA scholars to share their experiences and learnings, and insights for the academy.
The scholars will present the results of the community assessment they conducted in their assigned local government units (LGU) within Metro Cebu and will make some recommendations to the LGU based on the results of their assessment.
They will also present highlights of the research they conducted in their assigned LGU in line with the Mega Cebu 2050 Development Strategies.
A youth leadership and citizenship program of Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., YMA raises the scholars’ awareness of the dynamics and challenges facing the community.
Through input sessions, exposures, learning visits, immersions and research, scholars gain a deeper understanding of the present situation, the strengths and assets as well as the problems and challenges affecting the community.
This allows them to develop a community assets or needs-based project that will help address issues and concerns within the framework of the season’s theme, which is Urban Development.
