VICTIMS of the recent fire in barangay Alaska Mambaling, Cebu City are enjoying the free potable water provided by Metropolitan Cebu Water District as part of its corporate social responsibility.
Some 251 families were left homeless when the fire reportedly caused by a liquefied petroleum gas explosion broke out at dawn last July 14.
Among the more than 600 individuals who lost their homes is Rosa Madrona Sabana, 41, and a mother of two.
Sabana said she and the other residents in the area are very thankful for the free water.
“Daku kaayo’g ikatabang namo ang libreng tubig. Pasalamat gyud mi sa MCWD,” Sabana said while doing her laundry in one of the two water faucets.
Sabana is a native of Carcar City but rents a house in Mambaling with her family.
She sells slippers from Carcar but her stocks were all destroyed in the fire.
She said the water supply is available for 24 hours but they close it in the evening when nobody is using it.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, MCWD provides free water to the victims of fire within its franchise area for one month.
