THE National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI-7) yesterday filed another complaint against the Nigerian businessman who was purportedly involved in illegal drug trade in Cebu.
James Cunta Okwudili Uyanneh is facing charges of illegal drug possession before the Cebu Provincial Prosecutors’ Office.
Charges for selling illegal drugs were earlier filed against Uyanneh before the Mandaue City Prosecutors’ Office.
The additional complaint will undergo the regular preliminary investigation.
The prosecutor will give Uyanneh the chance to submit a counter-affidavit for him to refute the allegations.
In a July 18 raid, agents of the NBI-7 recovered 700 grams of shabu worth P3.5 million inside the rented apartment of Uyanneh in barangay Yati, Liloan, northern Cebu.
Two days before his rented apartment was raided, the NBI-7 arrested Uyanneh after he sold 70 grams of shabu to two poseur-buyers for P350,000 inside Moonlight Lodging Inn in Mandaue City.
The offense is non-bailable.
Uyanneh denied the allegations against him and accused the NBI-7 of setting him up./REPORTER ADOR VINCENT S. MAYOL
