Cebu City rebukes Talisay on SRP row
FINALLY the Cebu City government has responded to the Cease and Desist Order issued by Talisay City for its projects in the South Road Properties (SRP).
It branded as unfounded the Cease and Desist Order based territorial claim of Talisay City over portions of the SRP where three warehouses and repair facilities for Cebu City government vehicles are being built.
In its two-page response, lawyers of the Cebu City government said the CDO issued by Talisay City has no effect as it acted beyond its powers.
According to the Cebu City government the lots where the projects that Talisay City claims to be are within its territorial jurisdiction and are covered by land titles whose technical description states that these are in Cebu City.
They further argue that Cebu City has exclusive territorial jurisdiction of the questioned lots which are within the SRP Special Economic Zone.
“We wish to remind you that Republic Act 7916 provides that the City of Cebu can establish Ecozones which includes its territorial waters and islets and its immediate environs: and which metes and bounds are to be delineated in a proclamation to be issued by the President of the Philippines,” the letter said.
