MANILA, Philippines–The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) should file charges against the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) based on their allegation someone from the NBI is a protector of Chinese drug lord Jackson Dy, Director Nonnatus Rojas said Thursday.

“We want them (CIDG) to file charges against us so we would know what this is really all about, what are their basis for making this hasty conclusion,” Rojas said.

Rojas said Senior Superintendent Jose Mario Espino, chief of the Anti-Organized Crime Division of CIDG should, back up his claim immediately.

“We hope that sooner or later or immediately, they come up with evidence to back up that accusation,” Rojas said.

“That is a very serious accusation which we find unfair unless established by evidence…This is the first time that the CIDG has openly accused the NBI of something like that,” he said.

Espino earlier said that based on the intelligence report they received, an NBI officer is protecting Dy. The information was allegedly confirmed by another witness.

The rift between CIDG and NBI stemmed from allegations of NBI witnesses that police raiders recovered two sacks full of shabu and cash inside Dy’s rented apartment.

The police raiders kept the seized evidence under wraps, the witness said.
