If his appointment is approved, Emmanuel Guial will return as Provincial Treasurer next week.
Guial is Gov. Hilario Davide III’s first and only choice to replace acting Provincial Treasurer Yolanda Cabando, said Capitol chief of staff Ramil Abing.
Abing said they will submit their recommendation to the Bureau of Local Government Finance within this week.
“As far as I know, no other names were recommended,” he told reporters yesterday.
Abing said the governor already spoke with Guial about the recommendation when he assumed office three weeks ago.
“He is the governor’s choice from the start. Guial was also appointed by then acting governor Agnes Magpale,” he said.
Cabando will vacate the post on July 26 after her one-month appointment from BLGF.
Cabando was appointed by Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima to replace Ofelia Oliva.
Oliva was relieved of the post two days after she was designated as officer-in-charge of the Provincial Treasurer’s Office.
Magpale appointed Guial to replace former provincial treasurer Roy Salubre.
