MANILA, Philippines — Senator Vicente Sotto III said that the minority bloc of the Senate will support the legislative agenda of President Benigno Aquino III as long as they will benefit the country.

“Even if we are in the minority, basta nasa lugar at tama, we will support it,” Sotto told reporters in an ambush interview after Aquino’s fourth State of the Nation Address.

“If the president is asking for some things from Congress which we know will benefit the country, we will not oppose it,” he said.

Sotto was previously the Majority Floor leader of the Senate. He was replaced by Senator Alan Peter Cayetano when the Senate elected a new set of officers on the opening of the 16th Congress.
