MANILA, Philippines—President Benigno Aquino III faced the Filipino people on Monday afternoon for his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) where he is expected to outline his accomplishments.
Aquino, who was welcomed by newly-elected Senate President Juan Ponce-Enrile and Speaker Feliciano Belmonte when he arrived at the Batasang Pambansa, was escorted directly to the House’s presidential legislative office.
At exactly 4 p.m., Drilon and Belmonte formally opened the joint session to hear the President’s annual report to the nation.
This year’s SONA marked Aquino’s third year in office since his assumption in 2010.
High ranking officials, diplomats, and prominent personalities. like Vice President Jejomar Binay and former president and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, attended Aquino’s SONA.
