Police asset killed

A 37-year-old police asset was shot and killed by two motorcycle-riding assailants yesterday morning in barangay Calamba, Cebu City.

The victim was identified as Neil Gabutin, a resident of Greenville Subdivision in barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

The victim suffered gunshot wounds in different parts of the body.

At least four empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol and eight empty shells of a .22 pistol were recovered from the crime scene.

SPO4 Alex Dacua, homicide investigator of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), confirmed that the victim was a former police asset which may have something to do with the killing.

Police said Gabutin was walking along Lucio Drive when a motorcycle with two men onboard stopped near him.

The motorcycle riders approached the victim and without a word peppered him with bullets.

The assailants boarded  their motorcycle and fled toward Natalio Bacalso Avenue./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
