Fire renders 40 families in Q.C. homeless

MANILA, Philippines—Some 40 families lost their homes in an hour-long fire in a shantytown in Quezon City Friday morning.

Around 20 houses were razed on Mapagbigay Street in Barangay Pinyahan.

Fire investigator SFO2 Jovelyn Panganiban estimated the losses at P600,000.

The fire started at 7:22 a.m. and was placed under control more than half an hour later. The authorities were still investigating the cause of the fire.
