After failing to report to work for several days, Senior Supt. Noli Romana finally showed up at the Camp Sergio Osmeña headquarters in Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City yesterday.

Romana presented a medical certificate showing that he was advised by his doctor to rest his ailing spine, said Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo Jr., acting chief of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7).

Romana has been chosen by Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama to replace Senior Supt. Mariano Natu-el Jr. as chief of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

But last July 5, Romana was relieved from his post by Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo, then director of PRO-7, for allegedly failing to curb illegal gambling activities in Negros Oriental.

Romana was transferred to the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (RPHAU) but he did not report until yesterday.

Romana added that he was present in Friday’s turnover ceremony where Garbo officially relinquished his post and was replaced by Cerbo.
