Man accused of dog abuse dies over mango altercation
THE man in Talisay City who landed in the news for allegedly dousing dogs in their neighborhood with acid was stabbed dead allegedly by two brothers he caught stealing mangoes.
Alfred Alindao, 44, of barangay Mohon, Talisay City scolded brothers Eduardo Pardillo, 28 and his 17-year-old brother for stealing mango fruits from his tree.
PO1 Paula Lumakang of the Talisay City Police Office said the elder Pardillo who was armed with a hand gun tried to shot Alindao, but it misfired.
He then asked his younger brother’s help. The youth stabbed Alindao in the stomach.
Alindao was rushed to the Talisay District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The assailants escaped. /Correspondent Gabriel C. Bonjoc

Bridge jumper survives
A distraught widow jumped off the Marcelo B. Fernan Bridge but survived the fall.
Fina (not her real name) had been depressed since the death of her husband a few months ago.
Relatives told police that this was not the first time she tried to take her life.
She once tried to hang herself with a rope and also tried to drink kerosene but was stopped by her children.
Around 6:20 a.m., yesterday, Fina, a resident of Mandaue City, walked from her house to Marcelo B. Fernan Bridge and jumped off.
Witnesses called the police who borrowed a motorized boat to rescue Fina.
Rescuers led by PO2 Pasaylo Bandolon of the Mandaue City Police Office pulled Fina out of the Mactan Channel.
They brought her to the Mandaue District Hospital and later to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center where she was revived. /Correspondent Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
