MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) is planning to put up two more police precincts on top of its current 12 stations.
A technical working group is now studying the proposal for the plan as well as possible locations.
Chief Superintendent Richard Albano, QCPD director, said that there was an urgent need to establish more police precincts to ensure peace and order in the city.
“We aim to have a zero crime incident target,” said Albano who received his first star during a ceremony in Camp Crame on Monday.
Now a chief superintendent, he assumed the top QCPD post on January 13 in an acting capacity following the retirement of his predecessor, Chief Supt. Mario dela Vega.
In an interview, Albano said the additional police stations might be operational in the coming months, pending the approval of the National Capital Region Police Office and the city government.
Albano added that with the opening of the new precincts, the area of jurisdiction of each police station would be smaller and easier to manage.
At present, the QCPD has 12 stations, the latest being the Eastwood police station in Libis, which opened in August 2009.
Batasan Hills and Masambong are being eyed as possible sites for the new stations.
Albano added that the QCPD has been realigning its resources for the opening of the additional precincts.
In the meantime, he ordered policemen doing administrative work to go on beat patrol before and after office hours.
