MANILA, Philippines – Thunderstorm warning was raised Monday in parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces, the state weather bureau said.
Thunderstorm is affecting Metro Manila (Taguig, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas & Paranaque), Laguna (San Pedro, Biñan, Sta Rosa & Kalayaan), Pampanga (Arayat, Porac, and Mabalacat), Zambales (San Marcelino and Botolan), portions of Cavite and Tarlac within two hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration issued in a thunderstorm advisory early Monday evening.
“All are advised to take precautionary measures against heavy rains, strong winds, lightning and possible flashfloods. Keep monitoring for updates,” Pagasa said.
Meanwhile, a low pressure area embedded along the intertropical convergence zone hovered near Quezon province.
The LPA was last observed 460 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon, rooted along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
“Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms,” it said.
The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest to southeast will prevail over the western section of Luzon and coming from the southeast over the rest of Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the west to southwest with slight to moderate seas.
