Construction firm loses P2M, firearm to burglars
Thieves broke into a construction company in Quezon City and stole a handgun, P2 million in cash and a closed-circuit television (CCTV) recorder.
PO2 Marlon de la Vega of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said the burglary in 5R Construction Corp. at the corner of Cuenco and Banawe streets in Barangay (village) Sto. Domingo may have occurred between Friday night and Saturday morning.
The firm closed down for the day at 8 p.m. on Friday. The theft was discovered by the owner, Romeo Ngo, at 8 a.m. the next day.
Ngo told police investigators that he lost a .45-cal. pistol and P2 million in cash, which he kept in his office. The thieves also took the company’s CCTV recorder, he added.
Initial investigation showed that the burglars destroyed the metal grills on the front entrance and forced it open. They then ransacked Ngo’s office for valuables and fled.
Ngo discovered the forced entry when he came in on Saturday to open the firm. He immediately conducted an inventory to determine if anything had been taken and then called the police.
