‘Romana’s transfer to CCPO a long process’

INSTALLING Senior Supt. Noli Romana as chief of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) would takea long process, according to PNP Director General Allan Purisima.

Romana was picked by Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama to replace Senior Supt. Mariano Natu-el Jr.

Romana’s transfer is still being deliberated by Camp Crame’s Senior Officers and Placement Board (SOPB), said Purisima, who attended yesterday’s turnover ceremony at the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7).

Purisima said that once approved by SOPB, the personnel division will issue an order appointing Romana’s transfer to CCPO.

Romana is the former chief of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Police Office.

He was relieved from his post for failing to curb illegal gambling in Negros Oriental.

Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo Jr., who officially relinquished his post as PRO-7 chief yesterday, ordered Romana to explain while he has not yet reported to Camp Sergio Osmeña’s Regional Personnel Holding Accountability Unit (RPHAU-7) since his relief last Friday.

He said Romana could face investigation for Absence Without Official Leave (AWOL). /CORRESPONDENT CHITO ARAGON
