Metro Manilans warned: Brace for heavy traffic

MANILA, Philippines—Commuters and motorists in Metro Manila have been advised to brace for heavy traffic Friday as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) conduct road repairs on several major roads coinciding with the weekend rush.

The road works, one of which already began at 10 p.m. Thursday, will last until 4 a.m. on Tuesday next week, the DPWH said in an advisory Friday.

The road repair projects will be conducted in the following areas:

  • EDSA, Pasay City (Southbound) from Gen. Santos up to Wood Street (3rd lane) Period: (July 12, Friday 10 p.m. to July 16, Tuesday 4 a.m.).
  • EDSA, Quezon City (Northbound) from Home Depot up to Oliveros Footbridge (3rd lane).
  • EDSA, Quezon City (Southbound) from Kaingin Road up to Dario Bridge I (4th lane) Period: (July 12, Friday 10 p.m. to July 16, Tuesday 4 a.m.).
  • Elliptical Road, Quezon City going to Commonwealth Avenue (3rd lane) from the center island beginning at Kalayaan Avenue and Maharlika Avenue up to East Avenue (6th lane) from the sidewalk
    starting at Visayas Avenue and up to Quezon Avenue Period: (July 12, Friday 10 p.m. to July 16, Tuesday 4 a.m.).
  • EDSA, Mandaluyong City (Northbound) starting at Reliance Street up to Libertad Street.
  • EDSA, Mandaluyong City (Southbound) Boni Avenue up to Mayon Street Period: (July 11, Thursday 10 p.m.  to July 15, Monday 4 a.m.).
  • EDSA, Makati City (Northbound) from Buendia up to Guadalupe Bridge (outer lane).
  • EDSA, Makati City (Southbound) from Guadalupe up to Bernardino Street (outer lane) Period: (July 12, Friday 10 p.m. to July 16, Tuesday 4 a.m.).
  • EDSA, Caloocan City  (Southbound), Monumento Circle (3rd lane).
  • EDSA, Caloocan City (Northbound) from MCU Hospital  up to Gen. Simon St. Period: (July 12, Friday 10 p.m. to July 16, Tuesday 4 a.m.).
