Criminal and administrative charges will be filed against a police official accused of indiscriminate firing in barangay Poblacion 1, Carcar City, southern Cebu.

A charge of indiscriminate firing will be filed today against Senior Insp. Alvin Aleonar before the Cebu Provincial Prosecutors’ Office.

The administrative charges will be forwarded to the Regional Internal Affairs Service, said Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador, chief of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO).

The cases stemmed from an incident where Aleonar allegedly fired shots using an M-16 armalite rifle around 8 a.m. Saturday.

Aleonar allegedly blew his top when the fence of their ancestral house was destroyed.

SPO3 Joramae Tanud-Tanud, investigator of the Carcar police, said that when the police official fired shots he was heard shouting “kinsay isug ninyo dinhi? (Who wants to pick a fight with me?).”

Aleonar’s neighbors, brothers Harold and Harry Nacua and Carcar City Vice Mayor Car-car Patrick Barcenas will serve as complainants in the criminal charges, said Supt. Ricky Delilis, chief of the Carcar Police Station.

Delilis said Aleonar looked “intimidating” when he arrived at  the police station to complain.

Aleonar was wearing a bullet-proof vest while carrying a firearm when he went to the police station, said Delilis.

Aleonar was advised to deposit his firearm but he hurriedly left on board a car.

Aleonar is assigned as a dentist at the Regional Health Service (RHS-7).

PO1 Natividad Benitez refused to comment when Cebu Daily News called the RHS-7 office yesterday.

Benitez said it was their RHS-7 chief who has to comment on the incident.

Benitez claimed that the head of RHS-7 was unaware of the incident.
