Tricycle driver shot dead in Quezon City

Manila, Philippines—A tricycle driver was killed after he was shot by still unidentified assailants in  Quezon City Friday, police said.

Senior Police Officer 1 Laila Agati, Quezon City Police District Station 6 investigator, identified the victim as Joel Pritos.

He was driving his tricycle along Payatas Road when motorcycle-riding suspects opened fire in Barangay (village) Commonwealth around 10:20 a.m.

She said Pritos sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his chest that resulted to his instantaneous death.

A Radyo Inquirer 990AM report quoted Pritos’ wife, Evangelina, as saying that the petition filed by his husband before the Litex-Payatas tricycle operators and drivers association might be the reason behind the killing.

She said her husband had opposed the decision of  Toda officials to accept new applicants to become members of the organization.
