Grade school teacher robbed, killed inside QC home

MANILA, Philippines – An elderly grade school teacher was found dead with several stab wounds after being robbed right inside his home on Sunday night in Quezon City.

The body of Daniel Pagatpatan, 64, was discovered by his son, Nick, who had just come home from a commemoration of a relative’s death anniversary that day.

Senior Police Officer 1 Joselito Gagaza, the case investigator, said the victim suffered several stab wounds in the neck and cuts in his right hand.

Among the items taken were his Apple MacBook, Acer laptop, IPhone 5, Samsung and Blackberry cell phones, jewelry, and a wallet containing an undetermined amount of money and identification cards.

The victim’s son, Nick, came home with his sister and mother at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday after leaving home for a death anniversary commemoration in Tagaytay on Friday night.

Nick found his father lying on his belly in the living room of their house in Barangay (village) San Agustin, Novaliches.

The witness added that the master bedroom on the second floor was in disarray.

Gagaza learned that Pagatpatan had been alone in the house since Friday night at 6 p.m. when his family left for Tagaytay.
