LUCENA CITY, Philippines—A barangay captain in Dolores, Quezon, and his wife were shot dead by two men on a motorcycle early Friday morning, police said.
Ricardo Romero, chairman of Barangay Bulakin 2, was driving his Toyota Revo with his wife and two other persons on Gaurano Street in Barangay in Barangay Bayanihan when the assailants, who were on a blue and black motorcycle with no plates, fired on them, according to Senior Superintendent Dionardo Carlos, Quezon police chief.
Carlos said Romero and his wife, Wilma, were killed instantly.
“The two other passengers luckily survived,” Carlos said over the phone.
Carlos said the assailants wore crash helmets, masks and dark blue long-sleeved shirts.
The gunmen sped away after the shooting, he said.
