90 firms to join SM City Cebu career fair
ABOUT 90 companies are expected to offer more job opportunities for applicants in next month’s Jobstreet.com’s Career fair at SM Cebu.
Carylle Enriquez, Jobstreet.com’s senior market manager, said that they would be expecting at least 3,000 jobseekers to join the career fair on July 13.
Enriquez said they believed that more applicants would join considering the signs of a booming Central Visayas in terms of job creation with Cebu considered as the Central Business hub.
According to Jobstreet.com, their figures for January to May 2013 showed that Central Visayas Region has grown 133 percent in total jobs available from this period compared to the rest of the nation which is 23 percent.
She also said that expansions would be expected in several industries with more countries recognizing the Philippines as a major player when it comes to global economy.
The Philippines has recently been dubbed by the World Bank as the “rising tiger” of Asia, and the Philippine economy is expected to perform well in 2013.
Article continues after this advertisementA survey by the online job site, Jobstreet.com, showed that the companies were waiting for these positive economic developments to manifest in their respective industries.
Article continues after this advertisementThe survey showed over 56 percent of employers see company expansions happening in the future. With this, job growth is expected at the latter part of the year.
Enriquez said Call center/IT-Enabled Services/BPO has 7,563 job openings listed in Jobstreet.com while the retail or merchandising sector has 1,370 jobs. /Correspondent Michelle Joy L. Padayhag
