Casuals list for Cebu City Hall to be known tomorrow

/ 09:37 AM June 25, 2013

THE list of casual employees of Cebu City Hall who will be asked to continue to report for work on July 1 will be released tomorrow, Asst. Human Resources Management Office (HRMO) head Sonny Gimenea said yesterday.

An executive department committee overseeing the review of appointments of casual  employees is finalizing the list, he said.

The streamlining of appointments is headed by Evangeline Abatayo, city civil registrar’s office chief.

Abatayo was replaced as HRMO chief by Asst. City administrator Dominic Dino.

“It’s better to have a permanent HRMO chief so I can focus as a city civil registrar,” she said.

While Abatayo works on streamlining of functions, Gimenea is coordinating with the executive department committee consisting of five executive appointees to review the records of casual workers.

“We no longer have budget for the hiring of additional casual employees.  What we will be hiring is just enough to replace the non-renewals,” Gimenea said.

Mayor Michael Rama earlier said he no longer intends to renew the services of 2,500 casual employees.

Cebu City has 3,308 casual employees and 1,345 regular employees.

Those whose names will no longer appear on the list are advised not to report for work starting July 1.

Some casual workers whose performance are still under observation will be given a three-month contract subject to monthly review.

Well performing  employees will be given a six month contract that will lapse on December 31.

Gimenea said those who defied Rama’s order to join political rallies and lazy employees won’t be renewed.
