4.6 quake hits off Samar island
MANILA, Philippines—A 4.6 magnitude earthquake hit off Samar island at 6:08 p.m. Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The tectonic quake struck 108 kilometers of at a depth of 37 kilometers east of Guiuan town in Eastern Samar.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injury.
The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
