CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama wants his office heads and administrative officers to undergo training and reassessment of their functions in order to “maximize” their full potential and streamline their functions.
“Your presence will be vital in the next 100 days as we jointly begin my second term as Mayor of the City of Cebu,” Rama said in a June 18 memorandum.
Rama has scheduled a four-day reassessment on June 20, 21, 24 and 25 respectively for the 21 different City Hall offices and offices attached to the Office of the Mayor which will be held at the Human Resource Development Office training room.
The memo said that the reassessment, will be held “in order to maximize the full potentials of every department and offices of the Cebu City government. There is a need to streamline the functions within the organization.”
Rama is preparing the different City Hall offices for his second term in office.
He also said that there would definitely introduce “movements” in the different office and department heads come July 1.
He also intends to replace 2,500 of the city’s 3,000 casual workers. But Rama said that the replacement will not be done at the same time.
As this developed, Rama said yesterday that he wanted Lawyer Jade Ponce to be part of executive department when he starts his second term in office in July.
“He (Ponce) can continue to be my spokesperson, trouble shooter just in case, on anything. I wish that he should take over and he should also be hand in hand coordinating with city attorney on legal matters,” he said.
This early, Rama said, he already wanted to make it known that he would have Ponce who is now head of the City Solid Waste Management Board, as his executive assistant.
Ponce, whom he described to be performing, very loyal, keen, intellectual and has courage to stand up for him, is who he needs to be part of his executive team.
“I need people working under my stewardship who are continuopusly defending, making statements on behalf of the mayor,” he said.
Rama said that Ponce has “been very clear in his position and I salute his courage. I have been telling the core group you have him already put in place.”/Chief of Reporters Doris C. Bongcac
