RE-ELECTED Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano will take his oath of office before outgoing Rep. Eduardo Gullas in the University of the Visayas (UV) main campus at 9 a.m on Monday, June 24.
Rey Martinez, Cayetano’s political affairs officer in the Visayas, said Cayetano chose Cebu City for his oath-taking because of the “strong support he received from Cebuanos who delivered 975,000 votes for him” in last month’s elections.
Cayetano, who finished third in the senatorial race behind Grace Poe and re-electionist Sen. Loren Legarda, garnered 245,000 votes in Cebu City alone and 79,000 votes in Mandaue City.
Martinez said Cayetano also topped the race in the cities of Danao, Argao, Toledo and Naga.
“He will give P3 million to the Vicente Sotto Medical Center next month and turn over P1.5 million as support to a sanitarium in Mandaue,” he said.
Martinez said Cebu City Mayor-elect Michael Rama, Cebu Gov.-elect Hilario “Junjun” Davide III and Cebu Vice-Gov.-elect Agnes Magpale confirmed their attendance for Cayetano’s oath-taking.
