MANILA, Philippines— Four young commissioners of the Commission on Elections [Comelec] will lead the upcoming barangay elections, a “dry run” when they finally take over by 2016, Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. said on Monday.

In an interview with Radyo Inquirer, Brillantes said they have formed the steering committee for the manual barangay elections this October.

The younger members of the Comelec en banc are commissioners Christian Robert Lim, Grace Padaca, Luie Guia, and Al Parreno.

“The four young commissioners will lead this committee. This will be their dry run for 2016 since we will no longer be there. I’m retiring by February 2015 along with commissioners (Lucenito) Tagle and (Elias) Yusoph,”  The  Comelec chairman said.

“Masisigasig sila. They will constitute the working majority of the en banc. They can take care of the barangay elections,”  Brillantes added.
