Nephews hack uncle to death

A 49-YEAR-OLD man was hacked dead by his two nephews whom he allegedly chased with a bolo in barangay Looc, Mandaue City.

Rolando Nanoy died on the spot with hack wounds in the back and chest.

The two suspects, Sonny Marangga, 24, and Zaldy Nanoy, 20, surrendered to the Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) after the incident.

The two also surrendered the bolo used in the attack.

According to the police, a drunk Rolando ran amok past 4 p.m. Saturday.

Police said a bolo-wielding Rolando chased Marangga and hacked him in the right leg.

Marangga and Zaldy ran but were chased by Rolando.

Police said Marangga and Zaldy were later seen grappling for the bolo with Rolando.

Marangga was able to grab the bolo and hacked Rolando, said SPO2 Marcos Noval Jr., investigator of IDMB.

Noval said Rolando had a reputation of running amok when drunk.

The two suspects were detained at the Opao police station pending the filing of homicide charges against them./Reporter Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
