Davao bet Joebert Carolino outruns Kenyans to win 15-kilometer title in Kapamilya Run

Davao City’s Joebert Carolino denied the Kenyans another dominating performance in yesterday’s DYAB Kapamilya Run.

Carolino crossed the finish line at the Cebu International Convention Center in Mandaue City in 51 minutes and 32 seconds, winning the 15-kilometer crown over the favored Kenyan runners.

Kenyans James Meibe (51:47) and Francis Kakui (52:46) finished second and third, respectively.

Carolino also beat the Kenyans last year when he outran them in the 21k race of the Citigym Halloween Run.

Still, the Kenyans weren’t denied the crown in the premier 25k run as Douglas Mwiti topped the race in 1:26:47. Abraham Missous finished  second (1:26.48) while Isaac Simat placed third (1:28.26).

Mary Joy Tabal won the women’s 25k crown with a time of one hour, 45 minutes and 52 seconds.

Cristy Tutor finished second (2:02.56) while Meiress Ramirez wound up third (2:02.57).

The young Lovely Fe Andrin ruled the 15k distaff side with a time of 1:07.54 followed by Mary Jane Beboso (1:09.48) and Aubrey Rosanta (1:16.59).

Jhean Andrin, the eldest among the Andrin runners, topped the 7k female division (32:23) while Cherry Andrin, the youngest, was at second place (33: 14). Sara Lee Cuizon placed third (37:28).

Prince Joey Lee topped the 7k male side with a time of  24 minutes, beating Joel Delposo in a photo finish. Lee finished in 24 minutes and 0.570 seconds while Delposo finished in 24 minutes and 0.960 seconds.

Meanwhile, 13-year-old multisport student-athlete Ana Patricia “Icamax” Maximo of Token-Santini topped the female 3k race and at the same time broke her personal record with a time of 14:33.

Last week, the eighth grader of Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus won first place in the Philconstruct Industry Run.  Ricardo Adolfo  (10:35)  dominated the men’s side of the 3k.
