Tesio bags singles title in Sen. Chiz bowlfest

SALVE Tesio emerged the singles champion in last Wednesday’s ‘Senator Chiz Escudero Independence Day Bowling Tournament’ at the SM City Cebu Bowling Center.

Tesio, a lady bowler of the Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (CETBA), defeated elimination round topnotcher Gefre Buyco, 412-345 pinfalls in their two-game, final round battle.

Tesio who finished second in the eliminations, disposed of Renato Reyes, 207-176 to book her final round stint.

Buyco on the other hand, wasted his twice-to-beat advantage as elimination round leader in losing to Tesio.

Reyes placed third followed by Sam Lagcao and Brendo Ariesgado in the singles event participated by 42 bowlers.

Meanwhile, Buyco did not go home empty handed as he and partner Tess Regino bagged the doubles gold with 2,260 pinfalls edging the tandem of Lagcao and Aui Padawan who downed 2,253 pinfalls. Tesio and Jun Bonita finished third with 2,249 pinfalls. Ruel Zuniga and Noel Tanyu (2,192 pinfalls) and the pair of Bert Edillo and Makoto Osada (2, 159) rounded off the top five pairs.

E.O Bucoy Consultants of Eric Bucoy meanwhile, dominated the team event with 4,387 pinfalls. Bucoy teamed up with Buyco, Regino and Inday De Gracia. In second was Roedils Enterprises (4,344) of Edillo, Zuniga, Noel Tanyu and Vivian Padawan.

CETBA chairman Angelito “Docdoc” Gothong and his team composed of Jun Bonita, Sidney Dy Guani and Tesio rounded off the top three teams with their 4,328 effort.
