Police are looking for the connection between the killing of a land registrar in Tagaytay City, Cavite, last week and that of a real estate broker at a restaurant in BF Homes Parañaque last month.
The possibility that the two cases were connected cropped up after a witness positively identified the two men who killed Reynaldo Aquino as the same ones who shot Josephine Sarmiento.
Sarmiento, a real estate broker, was eating at a restaurant in BF Homes Parañaque on May 20 when a man walked up to her and shot her. The gunman then escaped with a cohort.
A witness who was in the restaurant at the time positively identified Julius Capongol as the gunman and Arwin Bio as the lookout.
The two were arrested on June 4 after they killed Aquino, the registrar of deeds of Nasugbu, Batangas, in an ambush in Tagaytay City.
Parañaque police chief Senior Supt. Andrei Felix said investigators started looking at the link between the cases after Sarmiento’s sister-in-law and business partner Tonette Dacanay told them last week that their group had done business with Aquino.
Based on this information, the Parañaque police went to Tagaytay with their witness who positively identified the suspects as the same ones who shot and killed Sarmiento.
